Summary

CVE-2024-0869 is a vulnerability affecting the Instant Images plugin for WordPress from versions 1 to 6.1.0. This plugin, which allows users to easily embed images from Unsplash, Openverse, Pixabay, and Pexels, is susceptible to unauthorized arbitrary options updates. The issue arises due to an insufficient check that disregards the verified ownership of the updated option on the instant-images/license REST API endpoint. Consequently, attackers with sufficient permissions (authors and higher) can manipulate plugin settings, potentially leading to serious security repercussions.
