Summary

CVE-2024-0769 is a recently disclosed critical vulnerability affecting the HTTP POST Request Handler component in D-Link DIR-859 1.06B01. The issue lies in an unsupported functionality of the file /hedwig.cgi, which can be exploited through a path traversal attack. By manipulating the argument service with the input ../../../../htdocs/webinc/getcfg/DHCPS6.BRIDGE-1.xml, an attacker can gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or even take control of the system. This vulnerability is rated as critical and can be launched remotely, making it a significant security risk. However, it is important to note that the affected product, D-Link DIR-859 1.06B01, is no longer supported by the vendor and should be retired and replaced.
