Summary

CVE-2024-0405 is a Post-Authenticated SQL Injection vulnerability affecting version 1.5.3 of the Burst Statistics – Privacy-Friendly Analytics for WordPress plugin. Authenticated attackers with editor access or higher can exploit this issue by injecting malicious SQL queries through multiple JSON parameters, namely 'browser', 'device', 'page_id', 'page_url', 'platform', and 'referrer' in the /wp-json/burst/v1/data/compare endpoint. Due to insufficient escaping and inadequate SQL query preparation, the plugin allows attackers to append additional queries, potentially granting unauthorized access to sensitive data from the WordPress database.
