Summary

CVE-2024-0340 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's vhost_new_msg function in vhost.c. This issue arises due to insufficient memory initialization when handling messages between virtual guests and the host OS. Consequently, local privileged users can exploit this flaw to gain unauthorized access to certain kernel memory contents when reading from the /dev/vhost-net file. This vulnerability poses a potential risk, as it may lead to information disclosure. Users are advised to apply the necessary patches as soon as they become available to mitigate this issue.
