Summary
CVE-2024-0254 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability affecting the Simply Guest Author Name plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 4.34, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's post meta. This vulnerability can lead to unintended site functionality, phishing attacks, or even site takeover. It is recommended that users immediately update to the latest version of the plugin to mitigate this risk.
