Summary

CVE-2024-0209 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Wireshark versions 4.2.0, 4.0.0 to 4.0.11, and 3.6.0 to 3.6.19. The IEEE 1609.2 dissector in these versions crashes when processing a maliciously crafted packet or capture file. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious packets or using a crafted capture file to cause Wireshark to crash, resulting in a denial-of-service condition. This issue may impact network diagnoses and monitoring activities, requiring users to update their Wireshark installations to the latest version.
