Summary

CVE-2024-0207 is a newly disclosed vulnerability in Wireshark 4.2.0, an widely used network protocol analyzer. The HTTP3 dissector in this version is susceptible to a denial-of-service (DoS) attack. An adversary can exploit this issue by injecting malicious packets or crafting capture files. Successful exploitation results in a dissector crash, rendering the Wireshark application unresponsive and preventing legitimate network traffic analysis. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to organizations and individuals relying on Wireshark for network monitoring and troubleshooting.
