Summary

CVE-2023-6972 is a path traversal vulnerability affecting the Backup Migration plugin for WordPress. Versions up to 1.3.9 are at risk. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this issue by manipulating specific HTTP headers, including 'content-backups', 'content-name', 'content-manifest', 'content-bmitmp', and 'content-identy'. By doing so, they can delete arbitrary files, potentially including the critical wp-config.php file. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as site takeover and remote code execution are potential consequences. WordPress users are advised to update the plugin to a patched version as soon as possible.
