Summary

CVE-2023-6923 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Matomo Analytics plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 4.15.3 are susceptible to this issue. The vulnerability arises due to inadequate input sanitization and output escaping, allowing unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts into pages. An attacker can exploit this by tricking a user into clicking on a specially crafted link, resulting in the execution of the injected scripts. This could potentially lead to data theft, unauthorized access, or other malicious activities. Users of the Matomo Analytics plugin are strongly advised to update to the latest version to mitigate the risk.
