Summary

CVE-2023-6825 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the File Manager and File Manager Pro plugins for WordPress. These plugins, version 7.2.1 for the free edition and 8.3.4 for the Pro edition, contain a Directory Traversal issue. The vulnerability is located in the 'mk_file_folder_manager_action_callback_shortcode' function, which can be exploited through the target parameter. Attackers can leverage this weakness to read arbitrary files on the server, potentially gaining access to sensitive information, or upload files into unintended directories. In the free version of the plugin, an administrator's access is required to exploit this vulnerability. However, in the Pro version, even lower-level users with granted file handling privileges can potentially exploit this issue.
