Summary

CVE-2023-6737 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Enable Media Replace plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 4.1.4 are impacted by insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the SHORTPIXEL_DEBUG parameter. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this weakness by injecting arbitrary web scripts into pages, which execute if a user clicks on a malicious link. Successful exploitation requires the attacker to know the ID of an attachment uploaded by the target user. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it enables attackers to hijack user sessions and steal sensitive data. It is recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of the plugin or temporarily disable it as a precaution.
