Summary

CVE-2023-6693 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the virtio-net device in QEMU. If specific guest features, including VIRTIO_NET_F_HASH_REPORT, VIRTIO_F_VERSION_1, and VIRTIO_NET_F_MRG_RXBUF, are enabled, the virtio_net_flush_tx function may not properly handle data input. As a result, an attacker could exploit this vulnerability to overwrite local variables on the stack, including the 'out_sg' variable. This could potentially lead to an information leak, allowing the attacker to read sensitive data from the process memory and transmit it over the network.
