Summary
CVE-2023-6506 is a vulnerability affecting the WP 2FA – Two-factor authentication plugin for WordPress. The issue, present in versions up to 2.5.0, allows subscriber-level attackers to send email notifications to arbitrary users on a site. This is due to insufficient validation of user-controlled keys in the plugin's send_backup_codes_email function. This vulnerability poses a risk for unintended email communications and potential phishing attempts.
