Summary

CVE-2023-6242 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability affecting the EventON - WordPress Virtual Event Calendar Plugin, specifically versions 4.5.4 (Pro) and 2.2.7 (Free) of the software. The issue arises due to a missing or incorrect nonce validation in the evo_eventpost_update_meta function. Consequently, unauthenticated attackers can manipulate arbitrary post metadata by deceiving site administrators into executing a malicious action, such as clicking on a crafted link. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it can lead to unauthorized modifications to event calendar data on WordPress websites. Effective mitigation involves updating to the latest patched versions of the plugin as soon as possible.
