Summary

CVE-2023-6228 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting the tiffcp utility, which is part of the libtiff package. A specially crafted TIFF file can trigger a heap-based buffer overflow, resulting in an application crash. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by supplying a malicious TIFF file to the tiffcp utility, potentially leading to unintended system behavior or denial-of-service conditions. Users are strongly encouraged to update their libtiff packages to the latest version to mitigate this issue.
