Summary

CVE-2023-6119 is a Privilege Escalation vulnerability affecting Trellix GetSusp prior to version 5.0.0.27. An attacker with low privileges can exploit this Improper Privilege Management flaw, as GetSusp fails to securely manage file access. The vulnerability stems from GetSusp creating an unprotected directory, granting an attacker the ability to take over file handles used by the software. Since GetSusp operates with elevated permissions, successfully exploiting this weakness allows the attacker to escalate privileges and gain unauthorized access to sensitive files, despite the handles being opened as read-only.
