Summary

CVE-2023-6038 is a Local File Inclusion (LFI) vulnerability affecting the h2o-3 REST API. Unauthenticated attackers can read arbitrary files on the server by making malicious GET or POST requests to the ImportFiles and ParseSetup endpoints, respectively. This issue does not require user interaction and affects the default installation of h2o-3. The vulnerability was discovered in version 3.40.0.4, and successfully exploiting it grants the attacker file reading permissions equal to the user running the h2o-3 instance.
