Summary

CVE-2023-5969 is a vulnerability affecting Mattermost, an open-source team communication software. An attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted request to the /api/v4/redirect_location endpoint. The vulnerability stems from Mattermost's failure to properly sanitize these requests, allowing an adversary to fill up the server's memory with large items due to caching. This can lead to denial-of-service conditions or potential application crashes. Users are advised to update their Mattermost installations to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
