Summary

CVE-2023-5907 is a vulnerability affecting the File Manager WordPress plugin before version 6.3. This issue allows administrators to set the root directory for the file manager outside of the WordPress root, granting unauthorized access to system files and directories even in multisite setups, where site administrators should not have the ability to modify files directly. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it can lead to serious data breaches, unauthorized system modifications, and other malicious activities. WordPress users are strongly encouraged to update the File Manager plugin as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
