CVE-2023-5889 is a security vulnerability affecting the GitHub repository pkp/pkp-lib before version 3.3.0-16. The issue lies in insufficient session expiration, which means that user sessions could remain active even after the intended logout. An attacker who manages to obtain a user's session token could potentially use it to gain unauthorized access to the affected system and perform actions on behalf of the user. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to data confidentiality and integrity, as sensitive information could be accessed or modified without proper authorization. It is recommended for users of pkp/pkp-lib to upgrade to the latest version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
