Summary

CVE-2023-5817 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Neon text plugin for WordPress. The issue lies in the plugin's neontext_box shortcode, which does not properly sanitize and escape user-supplied attributes, specifically the "color" attribute. This oversight allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious web scripts. The scripts are then executed whenever a user accesses a page with the injected content. Versions of the plugin up to and including 1.1 are susceptible to this vulnerability.
