Summary

CVE-2023-5771 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Proofpoint Enterprise Protection. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a malicious email with HTML in the subject, triggering XSS when the recipient views quarantined messages. This issue poses a security risk, as it allows an attacker to inject malicious scripts into the web application. Affected versions include 8.20.0 before patch 4796, 8.18.6 before patch 4795, and all prior versions. Organizations using these versions of Proofpoint Enterprise Protection are advised to apply the relevant patches as soon as possible to mitigate this threat.
