Summary

CVE-2023-5742 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the EasyRotator plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 1.0.14, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'easyrotator' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can inject malicious web scripts that execute whenever a user accesses an affected page. This poses a significant security risk, as attackers can steal sensitive information, manipulate data, or even take control of the compromised site. It is highly recommended that users update to the latest version of the EasyRotator plugin or disable it until a patch is available to mitigate this vulnerability.
