Summary

CVE-2023-5742 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the EasyRotator plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 1.0.14, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'easyrotator' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can inject malicious web scripts that execute whenever a user accesses an affected page. This poses a significant security risk, as attackers can steal sensitive information, manipulate data, or even take control of the compromised site.
