Summary
CVE-2023-5709 is a vulnerability affecting the WD WidgetTwitter plugin for WordPress. This issue permits authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject SQL queries through the plugin's shortcode in versions up to 1.0.9. Insufficient escaping of user-supplied data and a lack of query preparation lead to this vulnerability. Attackers can exploit this flaw to append additional SQL queries to existing ones, ultimately extracting sensitive information from the database. WordPress users are recommended to update the WD WidgetTwitter plugin to the latest version to mitigate this risk.
