Summary

CVE-2023-5677 is a vulnerability in Axis Communications' VAPIX API tcptest.cgi, which was identified by Brandon Rothel of QED Secure Solutions. The issue lies in insufficient input validation, potentially enabling remote code execution. However, this exploit can only be executed after gaining access through an operator- or administrator-privileged service account. The impact of this vulnerability is less severe with operator-privileged accounts compared to administrator-privileged ones. Axis has issued patched AXIS OS versions for addressing this flaw.
