Summary

CVE-2023-5658: WP MapIt plugin for WordPress, up to version 2.7.1, contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. This issue arises due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'wp_mapit' shortcode. Authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher can exploit this weakness by injecting arbitrary web scripts. These scripts will execute whenever an unsuspecting user accesses an injected page, jeopardizing their security and potentially leading to further attacks.
