Summary

CVE-2023-5602 is a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability affecting the Social Media Share Buttons & Social Sharing Icons plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 2.8.5 are susceptible to this issue. The flaw stems from insufficient or absent nonce validation on several AJAX functions. Consequently, unauthenticated attackers can manipulate these functions by crafting malicious requests, which could be executed if a site administrator performs a specific action, such as clicking on a malicious link. This poses a significant security risk and necessitates immediate remediation by updating to the latest plugin version.
