Summary
CVE-2023-5577 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Bitly plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 2.7.1, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability arises due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's 'wpbitly' shortcode. Consequently, injected pages will execute their malicious scripts whenever a user accesses them.
