Summary

CVE-2023-5560 is a vulnerability affecting the WP-UserOnline WordPress plugin before version 2.88.3. This issue arises due to insufficient input validation, as the plugin fails to sanitize and escape the X-Forwarded-For header before displaying its content on webpages. Unauthenticated attackers can exploit this vulnerability to execute Cross-Site Scripting attacks, potentially leading to data theft or unauthorized access. Adversaries could insert malicious scripts into the header, which would be executed when a user visits an affected website, thereby compromising the security and integrity of the site. It is recommended that users immediately update to WP-UserOnline version 2.88.3 or later to mitigate this risk.
