Summary

CVE-2023-5438 is a vulnerability affecting the wp image slideshow plugin for WordPress. This issue allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level permissions and above to inject SQL queries into the plugin's shortcode through insufficient escaping and lack of query preparation. By doing so, attackers can extract sensitive information from the database, posing a significant security risk. WordPress users running versions up to and including 12.0 are advised to update the plugin as soon as possible to mitigate this vulnerability.
