Summary

CVE-2023-5367 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting the xorg-x11-server. This issue arises from an incorrect buffer offset calculation during data copying processes in the XIChangeDeviceProperty function in Xi/xiproperty.c and the RRChangeOutputProperty function in randr/rrproperty.c. As a consequence, an out-of-bounds write flaw is introduced, potentially leading to escalation of privileges or denial of service scenarios. Systems running this affected version of the xorg-x11-server should be promptly updated to mitigate the risk associated with this vulnerability.
