Summary

CVE-2023-5308 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Podcast Subscribe Buttons plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 1.4.8, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject malicious scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in the 'podcast_subscribe' shortcode. Consequently, whenever a user accesses an injected page, the injected scripts will execute, posing a significant security risk.
