Summary

CVE-2023-52809 is a Linux kernel vulnerability affecting the scsi: libfc subsystem. The issue involves the function fc_lport_ptp_setup() in which a NULL pointer dereference could occur. This vulnerability was caused by the failure to check the return value of fc_rport_create(), which can return NULL, leading to the dereference of a null pointer and potential system instability or crashes. The vulnerability has been resolved by implementing checks on the return value of fc_rport_create() and logging an error message upon failure.
