Details
Summary
CVE-2023-52450 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel that has been addressed. The issue was found in the perf/x86/intel/uncore component and involved a NULL pointer dereference in the upi_fill_topology() function. This occurred due to the use of a logical socket id instead of a physical id in discover_upi_topology(), leading to out-of-bound access and a subsequent NULL pointer reference on the 'upi' variable. This vulnerability could potentially be exploited to cause a denial-of-service or gain unauthorized access, making its resolution an important security update.
