Summary

CVE-2023-52434 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel that has been resolved. The issue lies in the 'smb' subsystem's 'smb2_parse_contexts()' function. This vulnerability could result in an out-of-bounds (OOB) read when parsing create contexts. An out-of-bounds read can lead to various security risks, such as information disclosure or even code execution. To address this issue, the function now validates offsets and lengths before dereferencing create contexts. This patch resolves an 'oops' error observed when accessing invalid create contexts from the server.
