Summary

CVE-2023-5233 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Font Awesome Integration plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions 5.0 and below, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the 'fawesome' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above can inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This represents a significant threat, as successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access, data theft, or other malicious activities.
