Summary

CVE-2023-5189 is a newly identified vulnerability affecting Ansible's handling of tarballs during the import process in the Ansible Automation Hub. This issue involves a path traversal risk, allowing a malicious tarball to contain a symlink that, upon import, could result in the overwriting of existing files on the disk. An attacker could exploit this weakness by crafting a specially designed tarball, potentially leading to unintended file modifications or data leakage.
