Summary

CVE-2023-51651 is a URI path traversal vulnerability affecting the AWS SDK for PHP, specifically versions prior to 3.288.1. This issue arises within the `buildEndpoint` method of the RestSerializer component, which utilizes the Guzzle Psr7 UriResolver. The vulnerability occurs when processing requests to S3 object keys or prefixes containing Unix double-dots, leading to potential access to arbitrary objects. The Guzzle library incorrectly strips dot segments from the request path according to RFC 3986, enabling the traversal. This vulnerability has been resolved in version 3.288.1.
