Summary

CVE-2023-5164 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Bellows Accordion Menu plugin for WordPress. The issue lies in the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in shortcodes, allowing authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This vulnerability poses a significant security risk, as it can lead to unauthorized data access, unauthorized actions on behalf of the user, and other malicious activities. Users of the Bellows Accordion Menu plugin are advised to update to the latest version (1.4.3) to mitigate this risk.
