Summary

CVE-2023-5163 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Weather Atlas Widget plugin for WordPress. This issue allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages via the 'shortcode-weather-atlas' shortcode. The vulnerability, which exists in versions up to and including 1.2.1, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. Successful exploitation of this flaw enables attackers to execute malicious scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page.
