Summary

CVE-2023-5125 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Contact Form plugin by FormGet for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 5.5.5, stems from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes within the 'formget' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated contributors and above can inject malicious web scripts that will execute when a user accesses an injected page. This vulnerability poses a significant security risk, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized control over user sessions or steal sensitive data. It is imperative that WordPress users update the Contact Form plugin to a version beyond 5.5.5 to mitigate this threat.
