Summary

CVE-2023-5096 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the HTML filter and csv-file search plugin for WordPress. This issue, which exists in versions up to and including 2.7, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'csvsearch' shortcode. When a user accesses an injected page, the malicious scripts are executed, potentially leading to unintended actions or data exposure.
