Summary

CVE-2023-50937: IBM PowerSC versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1 are found to employ weaker cryptographic algorithms, potentially enabling attackers to decrypt confidential information (IBM X-Force ID: 275117). This vulnerability could lead to serious data breaches if exploited. IBM is strongly advised to update to a secure version as soon as possible. The use of weak encryption algorithms in IBM PowerSC versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1 increases the risk of sensitive information being decrypted by unauthorized entities, constituting a potential data breach. IBM Power Systems Command Line Interface (CLI) tool, PowerSC, has versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1 that are susceptible to decryption attacks due to insufficient encryption standards. Affecting IBM PowerSC, CVE-2023-50937 exposes sensitive data to decryption by attackers due to the implementation of weaker than expected encryption algorithms in versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1. The CVE-2023-50937 vulnerability in IBM PowerSC, impacting versions 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1, poses a significant risk as it allows an attacker to decrypt sensitive information using weaker encryption algorithms.
