Summary

CVE-2023-5051 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the CallRail Phone Call Tracking plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 0.5.2, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on the 'form_id' user-supplied attribute in the 'callrail_form' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor level and above permissions can inject arbitrary web scripts, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This defect poses a significant risk to WordPress sites utilizing the CallRail plugin, necessitating an immediate update to a patched version.
