Summary

CVE-2023-50096 is a vulnerability affecting STMicroelectronics STSAFE-A1xx middleware before version 3.3.7. An adversary with access to read and write on the I2C bus can cause a buffer overflow in the StSafeA_ReceiveBytes function of the X-CUBE-SAFEA1 Software Package. This issue, present in user-written code derived from published sample applications (version 1.2.0), allows for MCU code execution. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, particularly in embedded systems, and requires immediate attention and patching to mitigate the threat.
