Summary

CVE-2023-49948 is a vulnerability affecting Forgejo before version 1.20.5-1. This issue permits remote attackers to perform reconnaissance by testing for the existence of private user accounts through the appending of .rss (or other extensions) to URLs. An attacker could potentially use this vulnerability to gain unauthorized access to user accounts, compromising sensitive information. Although the exact method of exploitation is not clear, it appears that the vulnerability lies in the application's handling of certain file extensions. As a precaution, it is strongly recommended that users upgrade to the latest patched version of Forgejo to mitigate this risk.
