Summary

CVE-2023-49794 is a vulnerability affecting the KernelSU kernel module used in Android devices for obtaining root permissions. In versions 0.7.1 and below, the logic for obtaining APK paths in the KernelSU module can be bypassed, enabling any malicious APK named "me.weishu.kernelsu" to gain root access. If a device with a KernelSU module installed attempts to install an unchecked APK with the same name as the official KernelSU Manager, the attacker can take over root privileges. As of now, a patched version of the module to address this issue has not been released.
