Summary

CVE-2023-49286 is a Denial of Service vulnerability affecting Squid, a popular caching proxy for the Web. The issue lies in an Incorrect Check of Function Return Value error that exposes the Helper process management to potential attacks. Malicious actors can exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition, resulting in service disruptions. To mitigate this risk, users are strongly advised to upgrade to Squid version 6.5, which addresses the underlying issue. No known workarounds are available for this vulnerability.
