Summary

CVE-2023-49280 is a vulnerability affecting XWiki's Change Request application, which allows users to request changes to wiki pages without publishing them directly. This issue enables attackers to edit user profiles and download XML files containing password hashes of users. The vulnerability impacts all versions of Change Request, but the extent of damage depends on the rights set on the wiki. The patch, available in Change Request 1.10, denies users the ability to edit pages containing password fields with Change Request. Administrators should upgrade immediately to apply the fix. However, it is possible to workaround the vulnerability by manually denying Change request rights on certain spaces.
