Summary

CVE-2023-49251: A critical vulnerability has been discovered in Siemens SIMATIC CN 4100 systems (versions below V2.7). The intermediate installation stage leaves the application susceptible to unauthorized access, enabling attackers to add their own credentials to the device. This bypasses the secure login process, allowing unauthorized users to remotely log in as root and gain control of the system, even after it has been fully set up. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to industrial control systems, requiring immediate attention and remediation from affected organizations.
